    The President of the Turkish Institute for Standardization (TSE), Professor Dr. Adem Șahin, was elected as a member of the ISO Council, the highest governing body, at the 43rd General Assembly of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Mr. Adem Șahin, who will play an important role in defining and implementing the ISO standardization policy, said: "Through TSE, we will be active in international organizations. We will make participation in standardization easier and more accessible for stakeholders."

    ISO strategies will be created
    The 43rd General Assembly of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) took place on 22-24 September 2021 in the United Kingdom in a remote format. According to the results of the vote in the general assembly, TSE President Mr. Adem Șahin was elected as a member of the ISO Council with the highest number of votes. The 20-member board of the organization defines ISO policies and develops strategies. The Council, which also implements policies and strategies, acts as ISO's highest governing body.

    "We will represent our country at a high level"
    Evaluating the result of the vote, Mr. Adem Șahin mentioned: "As TSE, we will represent our country at a high level in international organizations. It has become important for stakeholders to expand their participation in standardization in order to strategically achieve this goal. If our industrialists and other stakeholders are actively involved in regional and international standardization organizations, then in this and similar tasks we can show strong and effective representation."
    Wishing Council membership to benefit industrialists and stakeholders, Mr. Adem Șahin said: "We will be proactive in defining and implementing ISO policies. We will make a profit for our country and our industrialists in the international arena. In addition, we will work to ensure that the standards prepared by our institute are accepted by ISO."

    International Federation
    ISO is a federation created in 1947 in order to accelerate the international exchange of goods and services, to develop cooperation in the field of intellectual, scientific, technological and economic activities, to develop and publish internationally recognized standards. TSE has been a full member of the organization since 1956, which includes 165 countries. TSE, who served as ISO president from 1968-1970 and was previously elected to this governing body, has played an active role in defining and implementing international standardization policies over time.
