"WE WILL EXPAND OUR MISSION"
Commenting on the agenda at the 7th World Halal Summit and 8th OIC Halal Expo, organized in cooperation with the Islamic Countries Standards and Metrology Institute (SMIIC) and the Islamic Trade Development Center (ICDT), TSE President Prof. Dr. Adem Şahin said that they participated in the fair with 3 identities. Şahin said, "I am here as the head of TSE. Right before us, we have a company that making efforts in international conformity assessment activities, whose capital belongs to TSE. In addition, we are here with our Dutch-based subsidiary, which carries out certification activities in Moldova, Azerbaijan, Cyprus and Germany-based 7 different regions. Our third identity is an organization called SMIIC. This organization, which was established in 2011 with 43 Islamic countries as a member, has its general secretariat in Istanbul, and is an organization that we regard as a reference and attach great importance especially to halal, which is today's theme. As the TSE president, I am also the vice president of that organization." noted Mr. Şahin.

"WE ACCEPT SMIIC STANDARD AS A REFERENCE"
Stating that SMIIC has determined over 40 standards so far and most of these standards are related to the halal issue, Mr. Şahin continued: "We accept the halal standards determined by the organization of which 43 Islamic countries are members as a reference. We have an institution that accepts these standards as a reference, and that is the Halal Accreditation Agency. The Halal Accreditation Agency certifies organizations that have the capacity to certify within the framework of these standards, that is, those that have both human and technical infrastructure. It protects the standards of SMIIC, of which we are the founders, and accepts and adopts these standards through our halal accreditation institution. As TSE, we carry out our certification activities according to these standards.

"HALAL COMMON CERTIFICATION"
Noting that they want the products subject to certification made within the scope of the common sensitivities of consumers with Islamic belief to be used in a certain safety, Mr. Şahin said, "Our sensitivity here is that if we consider that the amount of 7 trillion dollars and the shares of countries and countries in the world population will gradually increase as a member of SMIIC, we have Islamic sensitivities. In other words, whatever halal they expect in the products consumed by people who say 'I am Muslim' is recognized by a common certification by all Islamic countries, and we continue to carry out the necessary activities to facilitate trade."

"WE'RE A WELL-ESTABLISHED ORGANIZATION"
Mr. Şahin listed what they want to do as TSE as follows: "If halal certification needs a laboratory infrastructure, this is a very important need. As TSE, we want to have that laboratory infrastructure. If it is necessary to have the personnel and human infrastructure of halal certification, we want to train them and develop them continuously, to support the activities to be carried out in order to strengthen the infrastructures of the certification bodies of other countries in our cultural and belief geography, and to ensure their development. Because we are a very rooted organization with a history of 67 years and a member of all standardization organizations in the world. We want to expand this mission in our entire Islamic and cultural geography in the field of halal certification."

ICAS GENERAL MANAGER Mr. ERGIN: "WE ARE MAKING HALAL CERTIFICATION IN 3 CONTINENTS"
Mr. Hakan Ergin, General Manager of ICAS International Conformity Assessment Service, which is a TSE subsidiary, said, "In 2022, we will accelerate our certification efforts in the field of halal products, especially in the Turkic Republics centered on Azerbaijan, for Western Europe centered on the Netherlands, and in the Balkan countries centered on Republic of Moldova. This is our field of halal, but we also provide services in many different fields. We started working in some African countries, we are also doing it with the EU. We do consultancy work on product surveillance, product certification, installation of a food safety system to a ministry in Qatar. In other words, we are engaged in certification, testing, supervision in all areas of conformity assessment, as well as we, as a government agency, supervise the import ports in Turkey. So, we operate in all areas of conformity assessment."
